Currently in inspiration mode...

...in regards to reading books that relate me to the topic, that is. ;) For now, I want to focus on the upbringing and growth and character development of Tsuna and company (this includes Haru, because she is going to have to change a lot in ways to keep up with everyone else in the team--she absolutely cannot stay  silly and cute and childish in a world like this).

Anyways, the following books are going to be inspiration for the setting in Italy and other parts of the world:

Cosa Nostra: A History of the Sicilian Mafia by John Dickie

Gomorrah: A Personal Journey into the Violent International Empire of Naples' Organized Crime System by Robert Saviano

Shanghai Tan (yes, people, THAT Shanghai Tan. The Triads of China before WWII) from the 1920s-1930s

And a few others based on the records from the worldwide governments on each country's criminal organizations. So far, I can't find all of them in English, thus I might have to read a few in Chinese. ^^;

Though, all this is going to play in Part III. Damn it all...I won't be able to add that much into Part I, though Part II might hint at it a bit in ways.

As it turns out, I asked a few people on how Tsuna and Haru's character development should be, and the results turned out quite disappointing. No one that I know has even thought of making Haru a mature, different individual from who she was in her early teens (which is now why I understand that so many fans in KHR don't like her), and no one even thinks about why Tsuna has to become a "cool, mysterious" mafia boss who can do everything. =A= He can be that, but if that does happen he will also end up with serious, serious issues and many complex problems in his mind. In other words, he will be quite weak anyways.

Especially if Haru remains silly and "cute" (read: useless. Cute is NOT useful in times of war or crisis, people) and without knowledge as she is. And if anyone keeps saying how she is supposed to be much more "feminine" and never fight and always be happy and "cute", I will scream.

I know that this may sound frustrating, but I want both of them to develop more, as well as the others. Haru will not be a child when she reaches the age of 19-20ish, and she won't be like how she is right now (if anything, she would probably end up colder and more restrained and less certain of her future) This IS the mafia we're talking about, after all. What's more, Haru is not the kind of person I can imagine being incapable of fighting (if anyone says that "feminine" means never fighting and being cute, I will yell at them). She would push herself to learn how to fight like hell if she ever finds out that others are killing her friends. Remember that the mafia is not a world where you can be protected all the time, even if you are Tsuna's wife. Nothing can protect you like that, because you are targeted, and the enemy will ALWAYS find a way to kill you sooner or later.

It is natural that a mafia wife will learn how to fight like hell. She doesn't have to specialize in it, though, but considering that Haru is also a consigliere and military advisor, she will HAVE TO learn how to specialize in combat anyways as well as out-maneuver the enemy in mindset. It is already decided that the mafia woman is a lady who can protect herself without anyone's help, to the point where she won't need to depend on others that much.

That being said, I will explain this more later when I have the time. But, long story short: If Haru doesn't change at all, she will end up like Kyoko in Flames and Family and die a horrible, tortured death. Her silliness HAS TO come to an end and her "cute" attributes will not stay for long. She will retain her personality, but it will be more controlled, and much darker and sadder in ways.

It has reached my attention that there might be stark differences...

...between the canon Future Arc and what I had to write for it. ^^;

The thing is, I've been looking over what it means to be part of the Cosa Nostra based on information, as well as what it means to run a criminal organization in general and so forth to an extent, also based on book information in historical context and modern themes. The thing is, I seriously doubt that the themes in KHR are going to work well at all at the rate that it is going.

Just take a close look at the black holes and star heavy gravity power balls that Enma threw at Tsuna lately in the manga of chapter 330. =A= Seriously, if the black holes were really that powerful, they would suck Gokudera and the others in as well. What's more, isn't it something that takes absolute energy, to the point of breaking the gravitational center of reality, to make a black hole? Amano, your physics FAIL. Very badly.

So, I'm not going to follow the canon ideal at all. Instead, I'm going to go more towards a combination of the following series in regards to making the story darker. The fanfic is not going to be in the same setting, but there will be a certain feeling of familiarity in the dark, atmospheric tone of the background. ;)

Kara no Kyoukai
I want to make the eyes of the new dark flames (especially Haru's) have something interesting in them. However, they will be held onto the psychological factors as well as some elements of horror and sublime awe. I will not, however, be including the Mystic Eyes of Depth Perception or any vampires or monsters or whatnot. There are already monsters in the story, some being characters and some not being human.

Fate/Stay Night [Realta Nua]/Heaven's Feel Route
I want to make the atmosphere and the emotional depth of UTES as strong as this route of Fate/Stay Night, as well as force Tsuna to grow up like Emiya Shirou did in Heaven's Feel. From what I gather, it will be more difficult to make Tsuna mature that much, but...it is worth the while and time.

Record of a Fallen Vampire
As I said, NO VAMPIRES! Nonetheless, Tsuna and Haru will have to realize that having a flame and so forth has a lot of implications and issues with living amongst people who don't have so much knowledge of such traits. However, the atmosphere of the fanfic in the later sections will have some of the tragic notions and feelings of Record of a Fallen Vampire. The subtlety will be very interesting to watch, particularly between Tsuna and Haru.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
I want to make the series darker, indeed, like this series in ways: seemingly happy at the beginning, but with darker notions hinting in the horizon and threshold. No more happy-go-lucky mafia bosses and so forth, because mafia is NOT meant to be a happy world and there is no such thing as a "perfect mafia boss's wife". 27K fandom, I'm looking at you! >( If I hear another word that Kyoko is a "perfect, innocent, absolutely sweet girl who cannot help herself and make no mistakes", I will break windows. Because Kyoko is NOT perfect. She's just as human and deeply flawed as anyone else.

Black & White (yes, people, that Taiwanese police series)
I'm thinking of also involving the use of drugs in this story (no, the main characters are not going to use them for the most part, and the ones we do get to see the bad effects on are often OCs). I want to show what terrorism and crime is really like, without all the trappings of glory.

An Suan (the first Chinese series on Infiltration/Espionage after the 1949 China Civil War)
I was impressed with the code usage in this story. Definitely going to include that factor in here. ;)

Qian Fu (another outstanding Chinese series on espionage and infiltration)
Espionage is very important as a part of mafia life, and I think it will be used in here as well, such tactics.

Sun Zi Da Zhuan (the recent Chinese historical series based on the author who wrote the original Art of War)
 Military warfare is common in mafia wars and so forth, though...considering that Tsuna has the advantage of being born outside of Italy...he will have the chance to look at Sun Zi's Art of War and read about the past as well. Haru will be a major part in this field, by the way.

So far, I have that, though...I'm not sure if I can include all of that in. Still, it's worth trying and it is worth attempting in ways. I know I made an enormous project that practically covers the entire KHR-verse in the sense that it destroys almost all the tropes it should have been living on, but...I guess I never was one who liked cliches in the first place. Meh...

Anyways, if there are any suggestions on the story and any ideas for what you might like to see for it, feel free to comment here if you wish. ;)
